NCSHPO's National Historic Tax Credit Conference

Mayflower Hotel
Washington, DC
March 3-5, 2010

Conference Overview

The year 2009 will be remembered as a time of change for historic rehabilitation—and the entire real estate industry. Virtually everything has been in flux, from the Historic Tax Credit (HTC) investor pool to rental markets. If there has been a constant, it’s been the difficulty in getting debt financing. The election of President Obama has meant new leadership at the IRS and the National Park Service, while budget cuts continue to hamper many State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPOs). But even with all this turbulence, the outlook remains bright for historic rehabilitation and the mixed-use–friendly, smart-growth–oriented, and inherently green HTC.

The trick is finding opportunities among these challenges, and that is the theme of this year’s National Historic Tax Credit Conference, and why NCSHPO is especially proud to be the host again. Attending this conference is an opportunity you won’t want to miss.

This conference marks the only time this year that all HTC stakeholders—public, private, and nonprofit—will assemble to learn and network. Over three days, expert panels will provide the most up-to-date information about how to make sense of current circumstances and how to position HTC projects and our industry for the recovery.
